In the second session of 1st and 2nd Art Club we made a project based on the book, I ain't gonna paint no more, by Karen Beaumont.
First, I read the book aloud to them and showed them the illustrations, then they were to draw themselves and add color with colored pencils.
The next Art Club meeting, we got out the spray bottles and diluted paint and went to town. Just like the little boy in the book, they painted all over themselves.....well their illustrated selves!
Below is a picture of the finished projects, hanging outside of the library. I thought it was a good place to hang then, since we made art inspired by a character in a book.
