1st grade Abstract Art

First grade has been busy making artwork for our Art to Remember fundraiser this week.

First the students were given ordinary, everyday objects; a drinking glass and they dipped the rim in black paint and stamped all over their paper.

Once the paint dried, they chose two colors of markers and could only color in 6 areas with one color and 6 with the other color.   Since they are 6 this was a good number and easy to remember.  We also, talked about "less is more".  We didn't want to color the entire area, just enough to add contrast and interest in  the artwork.

The artwork, I think turned out great with an ordinary everyday object and little bit of color!

Super job First grade. You have set the bar really high and I have very high expectations for the rest of the year!
