4th grade Value Scales

I am always looking for a new way to teach Value to 4th graders and stumbled upon a display of "pipes" drawn going in various directions. I showed 4th graders how to draw the pipes using a ruler, notice the nice straight lines and then they began to color a dark color on the outside and the lighter version on the inside.  When blended together it appears to be 3-D.  Using the chalks lightly and keeping it free of fingerprints was probably the hardest part!  And the results are fantastic!  

 I am taking these examples to the Spicewood Springs Library to display for the entire month of October!  It was a hard decision because they are all this fantastic!  Boy, do I have some talented kids!
