Last week, the Kindergartners started a two-part lesson on Pop Art. We looked at artwork by Andy Warhol and then began creating our original backgrounds.
The students made
monoprints by using a
brayer with
green paint and rolling it onto a printing board. Then the fun part! They had to draw in the paint with their fingers with the goal of removing the paint. Where ever the paint was removed, it printed white and the green paint was left. This then created our green grass background.

The next class period, the student made flowers by drawing simple organic shapes onto construction paper. They had to cut them out and glue them using composition skills on to their background paper.
