Linear City

A Linear City using line, linear value techniques, pattern and overlapping seems like the perfect project for the 6th graders to work on this coming week.  This project connects our realistic bottle still-life drawings to a cartoon style city by using the same linear shading techniques; Hatching, Cross-hatching, Contour, Scribbling and Blending.  We are also making connections, by using line to draw all of the techniques and once again using value. We used value in the Bugs in a Line project using colored pencils and we used value in the Spooky Houses project as well.

Value and Line have been the main focus of the Projects this month and I have also introduced, Perspective techniques, Pattern, Texture, Shape, Composition and Balance.  We have more to learn in Art I and I can't wait for our upcoming projects on Shape.
